| Head: No More Headaches In San Francisco. Sub: For this Bay Area direct mail house,
The EasyPermitPostageSM service eases the
pain of pre-paid postage. As General Manager of the Direct Mail Center
in San Francisco, Pierre Smit knows only too well the headaches
direct mailers face with pre-paid postage. And when they have
headaches, he has headaches. That’s because traditionally, direct mailers
have had to pre-pay postage to the mailing house before their
mailings can go out. Poor cash flow and slow check approvals often
result in missed deadlines, bottlenecks in mailing activity, and
decreased volume—making it painful for both mailer and mailing
house. Pierre says, “I was always trying to find easier
ways for clients to pay for their postage. As soon as I heard
about the EasyPermitPostage service, I immediately enrolled.”
Launched in November, the EasyPermitPostage service
enables direct mailers to set up a line of credit with Pitney
Bowes and transfer the funds electronically to the mailing house
by the next day. Pierre says that it is not unusual for customers
to save thousands of dollars annually versus other methods of
paying for postage. For mailing houses, the service is also economical.
It costs nothing to provide the EasyPermitPostage service--all
they have to do is enroll. Yet it gives mailing houses a decided
competitive edge. Mail houses are already using this as a way
to generate new business. The service reduces the cost of doing
business as well. There is no money to advance, no checks to chase
down, no deposits to make, and no wait for checks to clear. Funds
are always “good funds” sent by Pitney Bowes, so bad
checks are a thing of the past. And, because they have fewer operational
delays, mailing houses are freed up to increase volume and bring
in new business. Pierre says that the EasyPermitPostage service
makes the whole process seamless. “All I have to do is shoot
an e-mail to the client to tell them how much the postage is going
to cost,” he says. “They go online and request the
funds within two minutes and my funds are transferred the next
day.“ Pierre says that it’s a value-added service
for his customers, and an easier way to do business for everybody.
“I promote it to my clients because it’s a way of
helping my business grow. I’m convinced it’s a revolution
in the mailing industry.” |
